Mehedi Hasan: 'I am really happy, we are in the semi-final for the first time, Zakir batted really well. We struggled to get going, the pitch looked great, but we lost an early wicket, it became easier as the match progressed. The crowd support has been outstanding. We are excited for the semi-final, we are looking forward to it.'
Raijul: 'We played really well, but we lost quick wickets at times, fell short by 25-30 runs. We bowled well, but they batted better, especially the way they rotated the strike.'
Mehedi Hasan: 'I am really happy. Zakir was excellent, the rest of the team supported me well. We tried to take singles and rotate the strike. The pitch became slow as the match went on. It's great for us - to qualify for the semi-final, for the first time, we will try our best in the next match.'
Mehedi Hasan is the MoM
The hosts were in some strife at 98/4 and Nepal could scent another upset, but skipper, Mehedi Hasan and wicket-keeper batsman, Zakir Hasan, made sure that it wasn't the case. They built the partnerships with ones and twos, the boundaries came when needed, and the unbroken stand of 117 runs for the fifth wicket sealed the deal.
Nepal fought hard, the bowling was disciplined, the fielding veered between the sublime and the ordinary, but lack of experience cost them dear. Still, they can do home with their heads held high. They were not expected to make it until the Q/F stage, they have not let their nation down at the big stage.
Dipendra Singh to Zakir Hasan, SIX, Zakir finishes it off in style! The celebrations have begun in Mirpur. The two batsmen have been engulfed by the rest of the team, Bangladesh are through to a World Cup semi-final for the first time in their history
Dipendra Singh to Zakir Hasan, FOUR, fuller length delivery and on the stumps, Zakir makes room and clouts it over mid-wicket, couple of bounces and over the ropes
