Brendon McCullum has long been one of the most loved cricketers around the world. Everyone was taken by surprise when the swashbuckling batsman announced his retirement from international cricket, quashing any hopes of seeing him at this year's World Twenty20 in India. Despite his retirement from international cricket, he will continue to play in domestic cricket competitions, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and Australia's Big Bash League (BBL).

The 34-year-old skipper will bow out of international cricket in his home town, playing his 101st Test. "It's nice to be able to go out in the purest form of the game, a game that means so much to cricketers who've played for New Zealand over decades and to be able to do it in your home town," McCullum said on Friday (February 19), one the eve of the Test. "There's an element of romance there as well and it'll be nice. Hopefully we can get the result we want as well and go down to the local pub and have a few beers afterwards."
This small video is a tribute to the legacy he is leaving behind in international cricket.
